Ford Concept Car
This has to be my favourite Marc Newson design. Yet, sadly, it will never make it on to our roads.
Newson was asked by Ford to design this car not for production but purely for inspiration within in the Ford factory.
It emphasises how important it is to draw your inspiration from anything you see and people you meet.
Marc Newson mentioned in an interview for the BBC that when you ask a child to draw a car, “this is typically the shape they would come up with”, an unusual but interesting start to a design.
This car really merges design with functionality, with its pullout ‘drawer’ boot and its swivel seats, to the overall feeling of space inside.
It is ‘ingenious’ and ‘fun’, and it is not very often you hear those 2 words in the same sentence.
